WRONG INFORMATION EVERYWHERE

I chatted with a rep earlier today and upon confirming he told me that if i buy an unlocked Samsung Note 9, 128 Gb, activate it on Verizon same day, it would cost me $799.99, I would also get a $450 credit as a trade in value for my samsung s8+ and then I will also get a $150 store credit. I went to the store and they told me that the ad was an error and it shouldn't be even there. He wanted me to contact web services and web services wanted me to contact the store as only they were able to accept the trade in. Now the trade in value for my phone is only $210 where as online offer shows $450. No one is accepting responsibility and they are making do all the clerical work. I have name of all the people I talked to and saved copies of chat with the reps.

Re: WRONG INFORMATION EVERYWHERE

Hi kadambh,

Welcome to the Best Buy forum and thank you for reaching out to us about your recent experience when seeking a promotion with a trade in for a new Samsung Note 9. It should be an exciting experience when you decide to upgrade to a new phone, so it’s disappointing that there may have been a misunderstanding about available promotions and trade-in value.

Generally speaking, trade-in value can vary as it is estimated based on the values and conditions entered into the system. You should be able to check an estimated value by searching in our Trade-In feature here. For a final value, the product does have to be assessed by either sending it in via mail or by a qualified agent in store. For a mobile promotion such as what you describe, it would need to be assessed for a final value by an in-store agent.

As for the other promotion that you referenced for a $150 in-store credit, can you please provide some additional information about that promotion. You mention that the store said there was an error. Do you know it was a promotion through Verizon or was it through Best Buy? While I cannot promise a particular outcome, I would be more than happy to look into this further. For me to do that, please send your full name, phone number, and email address in a private message. You should be able to select the “private message” option in my signature below.

Re: WRONG INFORMATION EVERYWHERE

Hi kadambh,

Thanks for sending part of the information I requested. Generally speaking, there are some considerations before a customer can qualify for a promotion. It doesn’t show the terms and conditions in your screen shots but depending on those, that could affect edibility and fulfillment.

For example, the $150 gift card promotion you referenced in the screenshot wasn’t available for someone choosing to purchase without a payment plan. As you mentioned you wanted to purchase the phone unlocked and then activate on Verizon after purchase, that would disqualify you from that promotion since you would need to have the payment plan with Verizon to qualify.

This being said, in your message I did not see confirmation of your your full name or phone number so that I can look into the situation in more detail. Also, you mentioned in your original message that you went to a store when seeking assistance with the desired promotion. What location did you go into? You mentioned you have the names of people you worked with. Who did you work with while in store? Please send those detials to me in a private message. I look forward to hearing back.

Thank you,

I was willing to go with Verizon payment plan, my info KADAMBH {removed per forum guidelines}
{removed per forum guidelines}
The people I felt with were.. DAVID, GIO, TOM and the supervisor whose name I'll send you later. The screenshot clearly shows that the trade in value for samsung s8+ was 450. Why wasn't that offered. You can always call me for better communication
