Very discouraged at recent experience

Pretty upset at a recent experience that I had. My partner purchased powerbeats 3 for me for our 5 year anniversary which was sunday. The same day I saw best buys weekly ad and they had the headphones for $70.00 less than what they were purchased for. We tried to price match the stores new price but come to find out there's a 15 day exchange/return policy? This was a gift for me. It was purchased early, in 9/28/17. If my partner would have known this policy they would have purchased the item closer to our anniversary date. I think it's astonishing that the store manager couldn't "override" the system for 2 days after the return date, which my partner wasn't aware of. None the less I spoke to an online agent yesterday. They said it was up to the store managers discretion, And if the store manager refused to take advantage of the trade in program in which I would receive the FULL amount back on. We go back into the store today and I show them the screenshots of the discussion with the online rep and get denied yet again, and told the trade in isn't going to give me back the full amount (I have the conversation with the online rep). This is outrageous. It's a shame too, we recently started going to best buy as we've heard good things, I'm already 1/3 of the way to elite status.. This serious makes me want to shop elsware

Welcome to the Best Buy Community forums. Congratulations on your anniversary. I apologize that a poor experience with Best Buy put something of a damper on it for you.

 

Our Price Match Guarantee allows us to match our own lower price on an item one time per purchase within the return period prescribed under our Return & Exchange Promise. For most folks that works out to a fifteen day period after purchase where you can get the price matched on most products.

 

You mentioned in your post that you are working towards an Elite My Best Buy membership. Once you achieve Elite status the return period is extended to thirty days, which also extends the price match availability period. Beyond that, if you reach Elite Plus status you’ll extend that period to 45 days. I hope that you’ll consider continuing to shop with us so that you can take advantage of these programs.

 

Regarding trading in the Beats, our Trade-In program is different from a return and would not offer the full retail price on an item that is traded in. I apologize if the chat agent you spoke with gave you an unclear or incorrect impression of how that program works.  I will be sure to document this in our corporate systems so that we can avoid any miscommunication like this in the future.
