Unprofessional behavior by door greeter

On Saturday 9/12/20 at around 12:30pm Lynnwood WA, I went there to make an electronics purchase. Upon entering the store I was greeted by a young lady and I decided that I did not want to talk to her because of COVID and to maintain social distancing. Behind my back she yelled at me that I was being rude (for not stopping and talking to her?). This is totally unacceptable behavior under the difficult current situation we are all living in. Because of her aggressive attitude, I decided to immediately leave the store and made my laptop purchase elsewhere.

Can someone please inform the employees at this store to act in a professional and courteous manor respecting customers that want to maintain social distancing and keep any social interaction in the store at the required minimum? We are not trying to be rude and we all want to live a healthy and happy life. Thanks!

Someone talks to you, you say nothing and keep walking. You are the rude one.

Re: Unprofessional behavior by door greeter

Really? Considering COVID, you think people should not respect your wish not to be compelled to carry on a meaningless conversation? It's not her responsibility to call out if my actions are rude or not without considering the current situation. In the end I decided not to spend my money at Best Buy due to her actions and I hope this is not corporate policy to treat customers this way. At this point, I'm uncomfortable entering any Best Buy stores unless I get a clear understanding if this behavior is acceptable or not.

You can just wave, give a head nod.
It's basic human non-verbal interaction.

and that is what I did. Apparently that is not enough.

Re: Unprofessional behavior by door greeter

Good afternoon, EricWolz,

Thank you for taking the time to visit our community forums. Ensuring that our customers and employees are being kept safe is a key priority and I appreciate you letting us know about your visit to our Best Buy Lynnwood store.

Based on your post, it doesn't sound like you had the chance to speak to a store manager. Is that correct? I would be glad to make sure they are aware of your experience. I'd also like to document this here at our Corporate Campus.

I will need a bit more information to do so. Do you remember the name of the associate you spoke to? Can you please also send me a private message that includes your:

Full name

Email address

Phone number

You can send me a private message by clicking the blue button at the bottom of this post. I'll keep an eye out for your response.

Yes, you were rude.

Please act like a person who is respectful when you go into a store.  Any store.

Re: Unprofessional behavior by door greeter

Leaving the store and spending my money elsewhere is "reaping what I sow"?? That is pretty much the opposite.

I will not force people to take my money and spend it at places who actually take COVID seriously. If you have disregard for your life and safety, that is all up to you.
