Trouble with returns?

Anybody have any trouble with returns in store? I bought a phone and tried to return in store. They told me I had to mail it in because the phone account had already been cancelled. I mailed it in the same day and assumed everything was fine but Verizon send me a bill for $900 saying I had to pay off the phone. Best Buy then said the return was late even though the website said it was returnable and gave me the label. They then kept it in their warehouse for 45 days without returning it to me. Anybody have any experience with this nonsense?

I can certainly imagine your concern over not having your return processed, and then receiving a bill from Verizon on top of that. I would be concerned myself.
