Store Returns

I tried to return/exchange a cell phone case that I bought on Aug 12, 2010. I was informed there was a 15 day exchange window. Had I known this, I wouldn't have wasted my time and the gas to drive to a BestBuy!
I live more than an hour away from the nearest BestBuy and work very long hours, which factored into the lengthy delay.
Apparently your very strict return policy is used to make returns/exchanges such a hassle that people keep something they didn't want or need, or in my case the wrong item altogether.
I walked into your store with the intention to do a simple exchange and purchase new TV.
I left with a $42 item that I can't use, which I promptly threw Into the trash. I didn't purchase the TV either. I will never do business with BestBuy again! Rest assured, I will make sure I tell anyone I come into contact with about the lousy customer (dis)service I received today. Richard {removed per forum guidelines}

While it's unfortunate that you made the drive for nothing, Best Buy does have their return policy posted on their website. Regardless, I don't know of any modern retailer who has a return policy of 10 years.
I am not a forum moderator nor voice of corporate. One of the corporate moderators will be with you as soon as they can for the official response from Best Buy. The forums work on a first come, first serve basis and it can take a while for a response.

I'm sorry, but it was 4 months! I am not in the habit to check a business's policy on returns prior to making a purchase. When I purchase something I'm not doing so with the intent to return the item. Interestingly, it appears I could have walked in and said it was a gift and i would have had no problem with an exchange. So yes I stand by my complaint and will never give BestBuy another dime or favorable recommendation!

The date of purchase was 8/12/19, not 2010.

4 months is still a long time, most retailers do not allow returns 3 full months outside of the return period. Gift returns still require a receipt, without it you’d be seeking an exception to the policy just the same as you are now.

That's why we post the time frame on our receipts, and post the full Return & Exchange Promise both online and in our stores.

Please also let me know if you still have the packaging for that case, and what television you are looking to buy.
