Rude door greeter

On 3/18/2022 as I entered the Orem Utah store the greeter said "Are you just picking up an item or two?" I said yes and he said we are closing in a few minutes. I thought about it and said why are you going to kick me out if I don't hurry? And he said no.

I have been a store director of multi-million dollar a year grocery stores most of my life. I trained my team to welcome customers not make sure they hurry and get out of the store. 

Customers are too hard to come by and should be treated as the guests they are. When I was leaving with my one item purchase he said "See I didn't chase you out." Not very professional. That got my dander up a little and I said " when I was a manager of a retail store if one of my employees said that to hurry a customer out I would have fired them." 

He said I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. Again not very professional. And he was closing the door as he said it. 

 

I did not get his name but he was probably in his late 30's or early 40's with long to the shoulder hair. I'm sure your security cameras picked up the episode.

What are you looking to achieve here? You seem overly sensitive. I've been manager of 50plus million dollar a year lumber yards and don't see any problems with what the greeter said. There are even stores that play similar automated messages over the intercom (Target).

I think it is poor customer service. In my stores that would have never happened. My greeters would have said "Welcome to Best Buy, what can we help you find?
