Was wondering if this would work and I would get a reply before calling in tomorrow and seeing if it would work with my local store. Recently purchased Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch on the 7th, price matched it with Amazon(although they didn't exact price match and instead rounded up to the nearest dollar, going back tomorrow go get my nickel back.) to $49.99(on their end, it's currently $49.94 on Amazon, and yes. A nickel does matter to me.) So that's that. I enjoy the game and would like to keep the phsyical copy but after looking at BestBuy's horrid return policy on 'open' software, you're only able to return the game for an identical item. The Digital copy was $59.99 at the time of purchasing the game, but has now dipped down to $39.99 due to Nintendo's E3 showing, my best guess anyway. Knowing I won't be able to get my money back through their in-store price drop policy because I bought the physical copy instead of the digital.
My question is for you BestBuy Employee, is if I return my physical copy and get something identical. Would that identical item be something I could then return for cash and buy the digital copy of Mario Kart 8? Or is this something that you guys simply rip your customers off with?

Hi there, alwaysinacloud,
Thank you for taking the time to visit us here on our community forum and letting us know about your recent experience with this purchase. I can certainly understand wanting to make sure you receive the correct price match and I'm glad to hear that you're going to get this taken care of. I would be happy to help answer your question.
When a return is processed a refund is typically issued back to the original form of payment. If this game is exchanged for an identical copy we would be unable to then return that copy for cash or a different form of payment. Please let us know if you have any other questions about our Return & Exchange Promise!

"When a return is processed a refund is typically issued back to the original form of payment." Correct, but in your policy, you state that open software, including games is not qualified for a refund of my payment, but rather an "identical" item which does not specify what that is. If I went to return a game I didn't like, I wouldn't want the same game back.

Thank you for your response. That is correct, we are unable to process a refund for software that is opened. This can only be exchange for an identical item. This usually takes place if you receive a defective product. While we would be unable to process a return for this game you may want to look in to trading it in.
An identical item means you would receive a different copy of the same game. In this case, we could process an exchange for another copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch.
