Wow. Just wow. I just had this very thing happen today. I bought a pair of Bose Sleepbuds and tried to return them and was told the numbers on the item and packaging did not match so they could not issue a refund. All they could suggest was to call the manufacturer, which I felt should have have been their job as part of good customer service...Anyway, I left the store feeling like a common thief and promptly called Bose, who then sent me an email proving that there could be up to 4 different serial numbers in one package. I plan to return to the store and try again...we'll see. Hopefully I'm not out $200.
