After specifically requesting not to have a credit check; they still did a hard enquiry! The store agent specifically asked to type in junk value in the SSN field and it still did lead to a credit check. This is fraudulent activity on my credit account.

Hi there, spz1985.
Thanks for posting with us on here, and welcome to the Best Buy Support Forums! I too am very careful with my credit, and are very conscious when it comes to applying for credit cards and other lines of credit, so I can definitely understand your concerns here. I'm happy to provide some insight here, however possible.
In this case, please know that all applications for the My Best Buy Credit Card do require a valid social security number (SSN), among other information, such as your full name, address, date of birth, as required by law. Furthermore, like many other credit cards, applying for the My Best Buy Credit Card will result in a credit check, which may show as a "hard-pull" on your credit report. For more information about this, we recommend reviewing the My Best Buy Credit Card terms and conditions.
Should you have further question, please let us know!
Sincerely,
