Purchasing issues

Hello,
Today I returned a copy of a game that I did not need that was gifted to me. I received store credit and that process was pretty painless and went off well. I than was looking to purchase a particular game that was not in stock at the store I was at. Thankfully I found a prepaid card I could use to purchase what I wanted online. When I went to the register to purchase the prepaid card I was told I could not use a “gift card” to purchase a prepaid card. I tried to tell the gentleman at the register it was store credit but they couldn’t do anything for me. I looked online and from what I had saw it does not appear have anything listed that says you can’t use store credit to purchase any prepaid cards. If this is the case it should be listed somewhere as such. Please help

It’s always nice to receive gifts from family and friends. I am glad that the store was able to take care of getting you that store credit so you could get a game that you needed! A store credit card is essentially a Best Buy gift card that is issued in some return/exchange cases when the funds are unable to go back to the original form of payment. Since it is store issued they title it “store credit” instead of “gift card”.

 

According to Best Buy’s gift card policy; Best Buy gift cards cannot be used to purchase prepaid open-loop cards and third party gift cards (including iTunes, Google Play, gaming or any other prepaid gift cards or codes).

If the game you are looking for is available on BestBuy.com or you would rather purchase in-store you are absolutely able to use your store credit to make an online order or visit a store and have a Blue Shirt assist in setting an order up for you!
