Purchased computer has less RAM than what was advertised

Purchased a computer that was described as having 16 gb of RAM, but windows is saying it only has 8 GB.

Its been a few weeks since I purchased it. What should I do?

I would start by calling ibuypower to confirm what that model is supposed to come with. They are also the ones that provide best buy the model information for the website. Maybe they will send you some ram, it just plugs in. Otherwise talk to the store manager to see if its eligible for return or exchange.

Re: Purchased computer has less RAM than what was advertised

Hi, JustinElliott,

Thanks for joining us at the Best Buy Community forums. We always want our website to be accurate. I'm sure that finding that your computer had less RAM than expected was a dissapointment.

Have you reached out to iBUYPOWER as suggested by nckhammond? They may be able to either let you know the listing was wrong, or send you replacement RAM if this was an error.

Alternatively, you could set up a reservation to visit your local Geek Squad here. You can have the computer checked out in one of our stores. It's possible that one of your RAM sticks is just loose, and we may be get it installed properly.

If you decide to bring it in, please let me know. I can reach out to the store to give them a heads up a bout your situation. Just send in a private message by using the link in my signature with your name, email address, phone number, and the store location, and time of the reservation.
