I purchased a laptop two weeks ago open box, on Sunday I found that the new in box price was lower than my open box price at best buy. I spent hours on hold with best buy only for them to tell me the open box price could not be match to the new in box price at the store.

So I received a laptop that had a shorter warranty and used quality with no price match to their own stores new in box price? Seems like a lack of honesty with their price match gaurantee. I didn't ask for anything other than matching their new price, I am out of town and they told me to return my laptop and then buy a new one at their store... Not feasible. Overall disappointing experience.

The exclusions are there because of the numerous individuals over the years who try to take advantage and double dip on special pricing.

In the exclusions it specifically states open box items are not covered. The store had the right idea to offer a return so that you could take advantage of the better price. The only option with an open box item is a straight return because these are considered one of a kind items, and as such the pricing of a new item now will not retroactively reduce the price you paid then.

When I check the manufacturer website it shows a shortened warranty period. I also asked for return extension to get back to the store because I was out of town to perform their price match "solutions" and wasn't given much of anything.

Generally geeksquad would cover the warranty in house for the original length of the manufacturers warranty from your date of purchase.
