Price match confusion with lower Best Buy price

I have gone round and round with Best Buy call support over the price match policy.  I purchased a new mesh router system in a Best Buy store.  Three days later Best Buy lowered the price by $110.  I called customer support and tried to get a refund for that amount.

 

After a second call I was finally able to get a person who said she understood and said she would process the refund.  I said I wanted the refund back to my credit card.  Unfortunately she processed a Best Buy gift card which I assume is in the mail.  I write this 10 days after that call and the gift card has not arrived.

 

I called again today to ask about the status of my refund.  The person answering my call said the gift card had been processed.  I said that is not what I agreed to and want a refund to my credit card.  He explained that since the gift card has been processed there is nothing he can do.  I suggested that since the gift card has a unique number, that the gift card be zeroed out and a refund to my credit card be processed instead.  This was too much for him so he quickly said that was not possible I need to talk to an in-store person.

 

So I will wait a few more days to get my gift card and then take it into the store.  If I get close to the 30 day return window, I will simply pack up my mesh router, return it to the store, and buy another shrink wrapped mesh router for the lower price.  I get the feeling I should have done that to start with as that would be less trouble than dealing with Best Buy's customer phone support.

 

So I will see if the in-store Best Buy staff can take the gift card and turn it into a credit card refund.
