Price match complaint

On October 28, I purchased a television for $1799.99. Today, November 8, I see the same item listed for $1699.99. I called Best Buy and requested a price match. The price match was denied because a free 30 day trial of fubo TV was included.

I am still within the 15 day return. I could return the television, purchase another one and save $100. This does not seem beneficial to Best Buy or me. Best Buy would be stuck with selling an open box item and I am returning the used television.

In the end, I would still be coming out ahead saving almost $100. I would be happy with receiving at least a $100 store credit to prevent having to return the television.

I’m suggesting the policy be revised and other forms of compensation be reviewed. Currently, I would not make another large purchase from Best Buy simply because of this policy alone.

Thank you for time.

Re: Price match complaint

Not sure if I will be of help, but I've noticed BB is using a lot of excuses lately to try to get out of that price match, or even their return policy (a story for another time). I had something that I bought with a birthday coupon. It was around $450, and the coupon brought it down to $405. Then the very next day, they had the same item on sale for $320, I requested a price match, and they first said I couldn't get it because I used a coupon, even though I wasn't asking them to apply it to the sale price or anything, just bring the price to whatever the discounted price was. I simply said "sure no problem, I will just go ahead and order one now with their free next day shipping, and then return the first one", and surprisingly, it worked this time. They quickly asked me to hold, and came back two minutes later telling me they did the price match.

It used to be so easy with them. Call or chat, show a new price. Done.

Now it feels like you have to prove your case and argue with someone just to get what they voluntarily offer.

Re: Price match complaint

Hello, Rwarnerii,

Welcome to our Best Buy Support forums! One of the biggest concerns with making a large purchase, especially this time of year, is what happens if the item goes on sale after the purchase. With our Price Match Guarantee, that should reduce that concern, but I can understand being denied due to the free trial that you received would not be a welcome situation.

Generally, items that are part of a bundle offer or that include a gift with purchase, are excluded from being able to be price matched, but I'd be happy to take a look at your purchase with you, to see what options there may be available. Could you please send me a private message with your full name, phone number, email address, and either your online order number or the Customer Service Pin Number from your store purchase receipt? To send me the message, you can use the button in my signature below.

Re: Price match complaint

We have been able to successfully resolve the issue and I understand the price match guarantee better. The situation just took a little more work than the first level person was able to complete.
I am thankful Melissa took the time to keep up with these posts and reached out.
