Taking advantage of our Price Match Guarantee is a great way to save some money while shopping for the latest technology. As you may know, we extended our Return & Exchange Promise during the holidays to allow most purchases made between October 28 and December 28, 2018, to be eligible for a return or exchange through January 12, 2019. My Best Buy™ Elite and Elite Plus members had extended time frames during this period as well. These same time frames applied for requesting a price match on a previous purchase as well.
When using a My Best Buy™ reward certificate on a purchase, the certificates must be less than the pre-tax total of your purchase. If you request a price match within your return period, the refund issued would typically go back to the credit/debit card used to pay for the purchase first. Then, any remaining points would typically be credited back to your My Best Buy™ membership. You have my apologies for any incorrect information shared with you by our store associates. That said, the store was correct in stating that items marked as Clearance (either at the time of sale or at the time of request) are not eligible for a price match. That said, if you aren’t seeing the item listed as Clearance on BestBuy.com, I can see the confusion here.
Can you tell me when you last visited the store to request a price match? Also, what item(s) did you want to request a price match for? If you have the SKU or model number(s), that would be very helpful.
