Very disappointed in Potomac Mills Best Buy #287 would be an understatement to say the least. Today I called the store to verify that stock number SKU 6471954 and I was told that they have one in stock. The SKU also showed up in my Best Buy app at the local store. So, I took the 15-minute drive up to the store to purchase it.
Upon arriving at the electronics counter, I asked the Best Buy Employee if he could check a SKU number to see if it was in stock. He would not look it up without knowing what the item was first. I proceeded to show him on the Best Buy app on my phone. The associate saw it was a graphics card and he instantly started saying they do not have one without checking the SKU I provided.
I insisted he look in the system to see if they have it in stock, he was frustrated by that request (the look on his face gave it away) and said he would check it a 3rd time as it was a favor to me…. He never checked the first time when I requested. While he is typing in the SKU number, he stated it was not in stock and quickly changed the screen, but I was looking right at the screen, and it showed that they had 1 on hand and in stock. Then I pointed that out and he said he would go in back and look.
Roughly 5-10 minutes later he comes back out to inform me that they do have it in stock in the back. However, the manager in the back stockroom wanted him to tell me that it could not be sold to me because it might be for a transfer. I asked if it was sold, he said again, it might be transferred or picked up later. I then asked by whom? Is the Best Buy associate that is holding it back for a friend or themselves? Seems very dishonest and shady practice, especially when it is against the Best Buy Code of Ethics. As a former Best Buy employee in Texas and a big supporter of Best Buy, this is a major disappointment.
