I am in the market for a home theater setup. My room is very different from the Magnolia setup in my local best buy; but the rep I was working with said that if I liked something there I could buy it, try it, and return it. I asked about doing that for several items (bookshelf speakers, sub, towers, etc.) and he said it would be fine.
I wouldn't say I buy a lot of stuff from Best Buy, but I do tend to buy high dollar stuff like my TVs, cell phones, and even some game stuff there. I purchased the below, and ended up not liking most of it unfortunately:
1. Bookshelf speakers to test bookshelfs versus towers ($800)
2. Bookshelf speakers for surround in either case ($500)
3. Center channel ($400)
4. Subwoofer ($800)
5. Two tower speakers ($500 each)
I basically want to return everything but the receiver. The $800 speakers never got opened as the towers sounded great and I just want bigger towers. The rest is now open box. I am well within 15 days (6 or 7 I believe). But I am tremendously worried about getting flagged as a return pirate or whatever it is since this would all get returned in one go. Will they ban me?

I sincerely hear you. I really like quality home theater and buy higher end components.
I would personally tend more towards towers over bookshelf for the fronts so that was probably a good call.
Returning that much high end stuff may get you flagged. But I think your best bet would be to not get the cash back but to repurchase right away. That way it won't show up as a return to your credit card. Or possibly opt for a Best Buy gift card instead.
The unopened speakers should not be a problem for you

WHAT?!? THEY HAVE THAT AVAILABLE?
WHY DIDN'T THEY RECOMMEND THAT?
I am clearly lost and I specifically told them my room is very different. Instead of buying all this crap and testing and putting myself at risk of return bans I could have just had someone come out and consult?
What does this service cost?
I am REALLY not happy about this.
