Poor customer service

During my visit on 03/07/2021 to the Best buy store in 100 Hawley Ln, Trumbull, CT 06611, I found out how poorly trained in customer service a member of management can be. I was looking for to purchase an iPad, after finally choosing one, it was time to pay for it. at the register, I mentioned to the cashier, I was using Affirm, a payment method that was convenient for me since I was not looking to open a new line of credit for a small purchase. The cashier was not aware of this form of payment and asked for assistance from a different best buy employee. A second employee came and said Best buy doesn't take that form payment. I told this employee, which later introduced himself as the manager, that I had used this payment in the past at a different location with no difficulties. The manager abruptly finished the conversation telling me to have a nice day. Implying I was using an illegal form of payment. I asked to call the store that had no problem taking my form of payment information; he refused saying they don’t call stores. I asked for his name, he wouldn’t give one.

Disappointed, I resumed to leave the store. In my way out, I told the manager that this was wrong, but it was fine because I was willing to go to the store that had no problem taking my form of payment, he performed threats that if he sees anything with my name on it, he will cancel it. At the door I told the manager my form of payment was a legit payment method and he needed to check it. his response was "you are a funny guy" implying again that the form of payment was illegal. I told asked him what he meant by a "funny guy". He simply turned around and asked me to leave the store using profanity. At the same time, some other best buy employees were laughing and waving at me saying "good bye".

This was the worst customer service I had experience in my life. I would please like a district manager to reach out to me so I can explain to him/her how this manager made me feel like a criminal.

Re: Poor customer service

Affirm is a method of payment only applicable online for purchasing goods from my understanding- I don't think you can do this in the stores. However staff should be knowledgable. With the Best Buy card you can get special offers for financing and take advantage of these offers in store. This can be used immediately if you get approved.

Re: Poor customer service

How were you attempting to apply affirm in store? Best Buy is not listed as a retailer on the affirm site and affirm is not listed as one of our accepted payment methods.

If it does not come in the form of cash, check, or major credit card they would be unable to accept it.
I am a Best Buy Employee, but the views that I post are my own and not that of Best Buy.

Re: Poor customer service

Bestbuy uses "progressive leasing" in store and online which is similar to affirm.

Hello, lucho203, and welcome to our online community!

Thank you for posting on our forum, although I hate to hear about the interaction you had at our Trumbull store yesterday. I'd like to gather more information about this situation and follow up on this.

To start, please send me a private message including your full name, email, phone number, and the location of the Best Buy you had used Affirm at as well as the date. You can find the blue option to message me to the right of my name below.
