Oculus Quest 2 Return

I purchased an Oculus Quest 2 as a gift for a friend about 20 days ago.  My friend refused to accept it and returned it to me.  It was unopened.

I went today to the local Best Buy store from where I had purchased the item, hoping to return it. The store refused to accept the return, not because it was outside of the 15 day return window, but because the Oculus Quest 2 has been recalled by Facebook.  They gave me a number to call at Facebook, which was useless.

I feel like Best Buy ripped me off.  Why should I be stuck holding the bag when an item is recalled by the manufacturer?  Best Buy is in a much better position to get its money back from Facebook than I am.

This does not seem righ tot me and I will be hesitant to purchase anything in the future from Best Buy.

Interestingly, I could have purchased the same item from Target, at the same price, with a much better return policy.

Lesson learned!

[ Edited ]

Hello, MWarshal,

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums!

I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us regarding your purchase. Being five months outside of our Return & Exchange policy, your Oculus Quest 2 would not have qualified for a return/refund. Now, being that there is a recall for this item that was issued last month, you will need to reach out to Facebook Technologies toll-free at (877) 960-0889 anytime, or online at https://www.oculus.com/quest-2/removable-facial-interface-alert or www.oculus.com, and click on Support at the top of the page then on the facial interface recall banner for more information.

All customers should immediately stop using the headsets, and contact Facebook Technologies/Oculus for instructions on receiving a free silicone cover. As always, don't forget to check the Best Buy Product Recall page for the most recent list of Product Recalls involving products sold at Best Buy.

You can also get additional information on the CPSC website for this specific recall through the following link. Thanks again for reaching out to us!

Regards,

Re: Oculus Quest 2 Return

Hi,

You misunderstand. I purchased the Oculus on July 25, 2021. So I am about 10 DAYS past the return limit. 10 DAYS.

Best Buy should definitely have made an exception and allowed the return. The box was unopened.

10 DAYS.

It is super poor customer service that you won't accept the return because the item is on recall. What do you expect Oculus to do? The number you gave me for Facebook is an informational message detailing how to get a silicon guard for the nose piece.

Next time, I'll go to Target, or Amazon, or one of the hundreds of other places online where I can buy electronics.

Best Buy must be ready to file bankruptcy, because that is the way you are acting over a $300 item.

Best Buy is dead to me!

Amazon and target also have Thier own time period for returns... Throwing a tantrum at target or amazon won't extend Thiers ether....

Re: Oculus Quest 2 Return

Hi, I am wondering if you were able to return your Oculus. I have the same issue (it is unopened too). Thx in advance!

NCHammond:

Amazon and Taget have more liberal return polices.

Throwing a tantrum at Best Buy might just cause Best Buy to enhance its return policy.

Re: Oculus Quest 2 Return

Hi,

I gave that Oculus to my niece.

This was never about the $300 for me. It was about a return policy that I felt was wrong and that should be changed.

As for the Oculus, I love it.  I play Beat Saber all the time. I use it as a workout.  By the time I'm done I've sweated up a storm. Great workout. Very fun game.

Also, I play a round of Walkabout Mini Golf almost every day.  What a beautiful game.  The scenery is incredible and the company keeps adding new courses at no extra cost.  It is super fun.

Just those two games alone make owning an Oculus Quest 2 well worth it.

Finally, I would not worry much about the fabric around the nose. I get what people are saying. It can get a little itchy.  But I never got a rash, and it has never been a real problem for me.

Facebook did send me the silicon replacement.  It fits great on the devise, and for a low impact game like golf, it is great.  But for playing a game like Beat Saber, one where you sweat a lot, the silicon guard causes the lenses to fog up a bit, and causes sweat to pool inside the face mask area.  I prefer the original fabric.

Best regards.
