Note 10 preorder/ trade in problems

I preordered the note 10+ in store. I told the best buy employee I wanted to trade in my note 8. He said when the new phone comes in they would return it and do the trade in process then. When my phone came in, the employee said that the trade in was not noted properly. So I lost the promotional value i was supposed to receive with the preorder, and I got stuck paying the full price of the phone and receiving a discount, instead of having the trade in be applied to the new phone.

Is there anything that can be done about this?
