No refund because my friend died!!!??

So my husband purchased the Nikon Cool pix camera for me on the 27th. It was a little over a week before my birthday (October 7th). I was given it early to use for my daughters birthday and unfortunately the shutter speed was terribly slow! I boxed it up and was going to take it back. Unfortunately my best friend passed the day before my birthday (Oct. 6th) and I had to jump on the next plane home for her arrangements. I spent 5 days at home and came home and realized that I hadn’t taken my camera back. That night (Oct. 15th) I called and explained my situation to someone at the service desk in sales at the Arrowhead Towne Center store in Glendale Arizona. The guy abruptly said “ It’s past the date there’s nothing we can do. But I’m very sorry for your loss. “ I asked him if there was anything I could do, bring in her obituary or maybe just get a store credit!? And he said “No. Sorry” . Hysterically crying I hung up the phone. This is absurd!!! Literally my friend died!!!! How can you predict that?! I should have bought this on amazon! This is heartless! Keep in mind I was only 3 DAYS LATE!!!!!
