I bought a computer the 2nd of December and the sales rep.. didn't tell me that there was a free 6 month subscription to Webroot Internet Security, nor was it put on the sales invoice. Later when I find out that should have been part of the deal, I go to Best Buy. BB says go to Webroot. Webroot says go to GS Service. Geek Squad said since I didn't have it on the recept, I would have to buy it.. Was this my fault or the error of the sales person. I spend over $1k on a computer and they won't give a 6 mo. sub to a virus program. I am not worried about the program but the principle involved, good way to send your faithful customers in another direction...

Im not 100% certain how this works but you are handed some kind of software box they ring up at the point of sale system which is active immediately when you check out. At least this is what I understood from my experience with the free offer. Now if you used a My BBY account it could also be under your software downloads.

Good morning, Richard,
Welcome to our forums! A free six months of security software for your new laptop is a great perk just for shopping with us, so I can certainly understand wanting to make sure you’re able to take advantage of this offer.
As hockeycanuckjc mentioned, this trail offer should have been sent to the email address linked to your order, or you may see it in your Best Buy Digital Library if you have a BestBuy.com account.
Since posting to our Support Forums, were you able to locate your trial offer?
Hope to hear from you soon,

My honest opinion is you don't need that bloatware... Your computer, whatever it is, already has a perfectly good security built in. Pretty much all anti-virus programs use the same database, so these third party developers only rely on these free trials, preinstalled bloatware or useless gimmicks. In reality, they don't really do much better, if at all, than your included anti-virus.
