Hi I recently purchased a B450 Tomahawk MAX motherboard and tested it out with a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. The CPU LED on the motherboard lighted up solid red, meaning the CPU wasn't detected or failed.
Next morning I realized that an electrical trace on the back near the CPU had burnt out, even etching and melting a pattern into the backplate.
During my years long experience with PC components this has only happened to me once, and this is the first time I've bought from Best Buy,
I'm wondering if Best Buy would accept my return, since to me this is clearly a defective board. Thanks in advance!

Standard returns promise is 15 days, although if you are MyBestBuy Elite or Elite Plus this could also extended to 30 or 45 days. Any exceptions to this policy would be the decision of the store you attempt the return, so if outside of that return policy an exception to that would need to be approved by the store you're performing the return at. Once that period ends, your next level of service would be under manufacturer's warranty, if covered. At this time, Geek Squad is not part of this process for motherboards.
Hope this helps.

Hi there, Aletheia,
Welcome to our community forums. I've just started the journey to start building my own PC so I can under your surprise to see this new motherboard not working after you installed it. I would be glad to give you some more details about our Return & Exchange Promise.
As jdogg836 mentioned, we offer a 15-day return or exchange period for most of the products we sell. This can be extended if you are a My Best Buy Elite or Elite Plus member. If you bought this motherboard at your local Best Buy they can assist you with a return or exchange. If you made this purchase online, you can also made a return by mail.
Please let me know if you have more questions I can help with!
