In store price match policy question

Does your price match policy include the following?
An item sold by a competitor that is listed as in store only, on the product page? Item is not marked as clearance or limited stock.

I tried price matching in store yesterday. The cashier and manager both told me that the item link from the competitor must say "sold and shipped" and without that they can't price match. I told them that the item page says it is sold in store only and that means Walmart is the seller. I tried explaning that it would be no different than showing a circular for Walmart which does not say anything about them shipping. They denied the price match and said the system will not validate without having it say "sold and shipped." I did not fully understand why that is the case. Walmart is within the range of a local competitor and the item is sold directly by Walmart. Can you confirm the correct price match policy.

Thank you

Re: In store price match policy question

I have read the price match policy page and that did not help understand why I was declined.

Re: In store price match policy question

Hello and welcome, skald89,

Like you, I’m often on the prowl for the best price whenever I visit a local retailer to make a purchase.  Our Price Match Guarantee (PMG) is in place to help make that mission even easier for our customers, so I can understand wanting more clarification regarding why a request of yours was denied.  Our FAQ page goes into more depth about price matching local competitors:

What is considered a local retail competitor?

A local retail competitor for retail store purchases is a retail store authorized by a vendor to sell a new, factory-sealed product with a warranty and is located in the same market area (within a 25-mile radius) of your local Best Buy store. A local retail competitor for BestBuy.com purchases is a retail store authorized by a vendor to sell a new, factory-sealed product with a warranty and is located in the same market area (within a 25-mile radius) as either the billing address or the shipping address on record for the purchase.

To my knowledge, items marked as “In Store Only” should still qualify for price matching so long as they are still in-stock and meet all other criteria in the PMG.  The phrase “sold and shipped” really comes into play for price matching Amazon.com, as we will only price match items sold and shipped by Amazon.  With that being said, our store leaders have discretion over every transaction and price match that occurs within their store.  I apologize if we were unable to accommodate your request this time around.

Please know I’m grateful you took the time to share your concerns with us.

Re: In store price match policy question

Thank you.

I pulled up the price match policy and mentioned those things. I said that walmart is within the 25 mile radius for it to be considered a local store. That the product page is live and refreshed the page for them. I asked if they could try and they said the verification process will not biring walmart.

I showed them that the "sold by and shipped by" has a specific list of retailers it applies to. They said there are other stores that have this same rule and are simply not listed on the price match policy page.

Is there anything I could provide for the cashier/manager to look further into the price match? Seems like you are saying it should be something they should have approved.

Re: In store price match policy question

Hi skald89,

As long as the Walmart store is within 25 miles from the Best Buy store at which you want to price match an item, and that item is in-stock and meets all other conditions on our Price Match Guarantee page, we should be able to process a price match for you.  Can you tell me what item you're trying to price match?

Again, our store leaders do have the final say when performing a price match, but I want to be sure we're not denying a valid price match request.

Thanks,
