I was Sold a “Certified” Apple MacBook- per Apple was Not!

I was sold a certified Apple MacBook and told to put AppleCare on it. When I called Apple they had to tell me that i was sold a MacBook that unfortunately was never certified. I have called the store, I have reached out to management. No one has provided me with a resolution. I’ve posted on social media and called. I believe that when someone pays good money for a product or service, places like Best Buy should stand behind it. I want a resolution. Has anyone ever gone through this?

Certified open box means it is in like new condition tested by the Geek Squad. You may confusing this with Apple Refurbished which is a similar system Apple uses themselves.

What is your concern actually?

That because I was told it was certified refurbished when I bought it, I was told I could put Apple care on it. Because it was never carried refurbished through Apple, no protection can be put on it.

You should be able to purchase Apple Care on it. That should have been offered when you purchased it.
