I bought a used $500 APPLE STORE gift card in the bestbuy store on 10/05/2021, contacted the apple store, the apple store said that I did not buy it from them, and they can not do anything about it since the gift card has been redeemed ,also they asked me to return to bestbuy to handle this I went to the bestbuy store which is at DUARTE, CA 91010 where I bought the gift card at the time, and I didn't get any effective help. After that, I searched the Internet for the reason, and it turned out that I was not the only one. Let's ask, if before I bought the gift card, Some people copied the card information and put it back on the shelf. Then who will bear the loss? Now I bought a used gift card for $500 for no reason. Then there is nowhere to go for help....

Unfortunately we are going to see a lot more of it this holiday season as news outlets do reports on this. Since this is treated like cash, your only recourse would be to file a police report and they can work with Apple to determine who did this with the card.
Save all receipts.
A BBY Mod may be able to chime in on this too, but they might say the same thing as me.
When it comes to the packaging I always inspect them before purchasing a GC. If something is off I find another one or perhaps go towards the register where it's less likely to happen as they typically have gift cards up front.

Thank you for your help, but my question has not been answered yet, why should I write it as resolved? And I want more people to understand how scammers deceive or tell others how to prevent it in the first place.even if I still can't get my money back at the end,I think this move is meaningful. also I think if someone did it deliberately, it would not be so easy to be discovered by you, right? And I buy gift cards normally. Before I know this "skill", no one will observe it so carefully, right?

Good afternoon, Xiang88999,
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on our community forums and writing to us regarding this gift card purchase. It's certainly strange to hear that this gift card balance was used without your permission. As someone who purchases quite a few gift cards, I can imagine your surprise to see your balance changed without using this. I'd be glad to provide some information on how to get assistance moving forward.
As hockeycanuckjc mentioned, gift cards are treated as cash. Lost, stolen or damaged cards replaced only with valid proof of purchase to extent of remaining card balance. Based on your post, it sounds like this gift card balance is zero, is that correct?
If so, I would recommend filing a report with your local law enforcement to alert them that this gift card was used without your permission. Best Buy will assist with their investigation as much as possible. I hope I was able to provide some additional clarification, but please let me know if you have more questions!

Thank you for following up with me. I'm a bit confused by our latest post and do have some more questions so I can continue to look into what options we may have to assist you.
You mentioned that this gift card was missing or damaged, can you please clarify the status of this gift card when you received it? You also mention that you bought an "empty card", do you have a receipt or order number showing that this gift card was activated?
Any additional clarification would be much appreciated so I can continue to review this.
