Got an odd one

So the wife and I go to best buy to purchase TV. Decided on one and go to pay, salesman says "oh sorry we dont have one in stock here, but the store 16 miles away does." Ok, we pay for it there and drive the 16 miles to other best buy. They say sorry, we dont have one here, that store was wrong. I say ok not your fault, when can I get one? Sorry sir that tv is no longer available, last year's model I believe she said. Well that stinks....what dobwe do? She says all we can do is pick another tv at same price range or we'll refund the amount, I opted to refund. We get and I'm looking at best buy online, they say that store still has that particular tv there, so I buy it again. I get confirmation email that my tv is ready for pickup at this same store...SERIOUSLY?! I call and ask someone to verify it is in fact there, they verify. I talk to manager about this and he informs me that it was a returned tv...i didnt think about it on the phone but wouldnt that qualify as an open box item at that point?? I don't think I should pay full price for a returned TV...anybody could have retaped the box...please help!

Re: Got an odd one

Hello, Ls2legit!

Thanks for joining our online community, here on the Best Buy Forums!

It's always exciting to get a new TV. I recently moved and really enjoyed setting up my new living room, including picking out the perfect TV. I'm sorry for all of the confusion that happened with your purchase.

If an item was opened and used prior to being returned, we would typically expect it to be sold as an Open Box item. If an item is returned, but it was never used, it may not be listed as an Open Box item. Have you already reconnected with the store in regards to your concerns, or are you looking for assistance with getting in touch with the management team at the store?

Thanks,

I did connect with the manager, he said I'm more than welcome to open box and plug in tv at the store to verify it works...still makes me a little wary though...

Ls2legit,

I can understand wanting to have the best experience possible with your new TV, and feeling uneasy in regards to the availability and status of the TV. I think testing the TV out at the store to make sure that it meets your needs and expectations is a great recommendation. Both New in Box and Open Box have the same return and exchange period, and you would have the same options for adding a Geek Squad Protection plan.

Based on what you have shared with us so far, I'm not sure if we would have any additional new in box inventory available in your area. Can you share the model number or SKU of the TV, and let me know which store you were initially trying to pick up at?

Re: Got an odd one

Ls2legit,

Thanks for confirming that for me. If the TV that is currently reserved for you does not fit your needs, I would recommend seeing if there is any possibility of having one transferred in by placing a new order at the store. It does not appear that this model is available for shipping or delivery in your area.

Thanks,
