Disclaimer-- best buy has deleted this post multiple times - we demand a response.
My boyfriend and I went into Best Buy because we were promised 36-month finances and that did not happen. We were also charged $500+ in interest. I called Citi bank beforehand to avoid going in-store to resolve it. We go in and directly ask to talk to the general manager. His name is Jason. We explain what happened and he is dismissive and sarcastic. He states how he has more important things to do. He tells us 36-month financing is not possible (even though we have products for 36-month financing). We said we didn't want to have to make a fraud claim and he responded telling us to "get out of his store for making threats." My boyfriend responded, "why would we be kicked out for making a fraud claim?" He had no response, we gave him our info and waited.
He comes back out and we show him (on my phone) that we do indeed have 36-month financing. He increased our financing to 24 months and said 36 months will never happen again that we must've done a "handshake deal." Although this is not what we were promised, we said thank you for your help.
We were about to leave and we ask for his name and the supervisor's name. He responded, "no I don't give out personal contact info" when we just asked for a name. I understand certain stores have policies in place and I respect that, but he then told us to get out of his store and called the police.
My boyfriend began voice recording for clarification of the situation. As soon as he stopped recording the GM says, "do you always wake up like a (Insert curse word here - they keep deleting for use of profanity)?" My boyfriend and I were so taken shocked we take a step back and my boyfriend set his phone on the counter. The GM takes his phone and sets it with the security guy. We said why are you touching his stuff?? Jason says "I'm putting it in a safe place" even though my boyfriend was standing next to it... He then stands behind my boyfriend and bumps into him, pretending it was an accident.
At that point, we decided to wait for the police. The officer said we weren't doing anything wrong and couldn't even file a report for the situation, but gave us his number and all the information needed.
I was able to call Citi Bank, explain what had happened in-store, and they were able to change our financing and waive our interest fee in a matter of minutes. Jason refused to do this and stated that it was impossible. We are so appalled and disappointed by this situation. We are definitely never doing business with Best Buy again.
(To add to this, this situation occurred in March of 2020. We made a formal complaint on the phone, and through here. It has been removed multiple times. We are so disappointed in how Best Buy has handled the original situation and their response to it, rather their lack of response.)
