Fraud alert on my Reward Account

I went to purchase a washer and dryer, I got approved for the Citi credit account for 4k, amount finances was $1800, a couple hours after I left the employee who helped me called me and told me my purchase was cancelled because it was flagged for fraud, she gave me a number for Citi, and told me to call them, thinking it was Citibank that flagged it. I called Citi and they said everything is good on their side, called best buy corp number and they had me on hold for 2 hours and was hung up on 4 times, finally got a hold of someone and they said it was because the item was no longer in stock, drove to best buy to speak with the employee who helped me and she said that the item "IS IN STOCK" 6 hours later, Citi points at best buy, best buy corp. on the phone points at best buy retail location that I went too, and the best buy retail location where I went to make the purchase points at best buy corp dept. 4 hrs on the phone, being hung up on, 2hrs. driving back to the best buy store, waiting to speak to some one, all I got at the best buy store was that it's a liability issue for us to help you, and we can't get in trouble and recommend fore to go back home and try and call someone to help me...... Horrible, if anyone of the people I dealt with today would of been in my shoes, not one of them would continue doing business with the company that did that to them.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on our community forums and letting us know about your experience using the My Best Buy credit card. These cards over quite a few benefits so I can certainly understand wanting to make sure you can take advantage of these when purchasing a new washer and dryer. I'd like to help you look into this to see how we may be able to assist you.


To my knowledge, I am not aware of a fraud alert being placed on account because a product is out of stock. Generally, Citibank is able to review your My Best Buy credit card account and provide the most information on it's current status. Since you've been unable to get this resolved, I'd like to make sure I review this here on my end.

Cancelled order numbers
