Best Buy stores have strict protocol for in store pickup otherwise they would not be following policy. It sounds like the store you shopped at did not follow this policy.
They will need to investigate what happened and possibly you would need to file a theft report with the local law enforcement agency in your area where the store is located since this is a high value item plus it's hard to come across stock wise.
Each store has Camera Footage and I'm sure local law enforcement can get it with Best Buy's help if it comes down to that.
