Credit card statement showing a charge instead of a partial refund


Last week I ordered a laptop, online, and got it 2 days ago. I was unhappy with the quality control and returned it to a brick and mortar BestBuy store.

There I decided to get a different laptop instead of a full refund, but the new laptop was about $180 cheaper. So the customer service employee said I'd get the partial refund back on the credit card I used in the online purchase of the first laptop.

Last night and this morning I checked my credit card transaction list and it shows a $180 pending charge instead of a refund.

I tried the live chat support and they told me they can't do anything about it and to try other customer service options.

Is there any way you can look into what's happening? Thanks.
