Today I visited my local Best Buy at the Avenues in Jacksonville Florida. I was interested in the Insignia 7 cu Upright Freezer. After roaming the isles seeing many, many appliances including chest freezers I inquired to one of the three associates about it. The gentleman looked it up online and said it was in the back and he would go and get it. As he was leaving he asked another associate to ring it up. I mentioned that I wanted to first 'see' the appliance before committing to purchasing it. All three quickly advised me that was not possible. It was in a box and could not be opened. When I asked about why this was the case they all parrotted 'policy, what if we open it and you don't buy it?' Looking around the showroom I pointed out that all of the appliances on the showroom were once boxed, correct? Sadly the gentlemen were quite dismissive and I was very dissappointed. I thanked them and left.
Once home, I called and asked to speak to the Manager on duty. He was a kind gentleman and I explained to him my experience. He explained to me that all of the manufacturers that have product on the floor have paid to have the appliances displayed. Which to me made some sense. I asked if he might educate the team members how to better answer customer questions rather than dismiss out of hand.
In investigating further I have learned that Insignia is a Best Buy brand, which brings me further confusion. If this is their own brand, why would they not have it on display or even be willing to display if requested?
I am so very frustrated and saddened by my latest interaction at Best Buy,

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for choosing to register to share your recent experience with us! Shopping for a new appliance is a big deal, so I can understand wanting to check out the Insignia upright freezer during your visit to our Jacksonville, FL location.
While we do our best to provide our customers with a variety of displays, we are unable to provide a display for everything we carry, nor would we be able to open product to be reviewed prior to purchase. I apologize if this isn't the answer you were expecting, and greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your disappointment with us, as well as the manager at the store. If you should have any other concerns, please let us know!
