Hello BestBuy
I orderd a ps5 in January and picked it up at the store.
Once I turned it on and tried to connect online I was met with an error stating that I was banned from Playstation network. After contacting Playstation suppourt I gave up when they said there was nothing they can do.
A few months pass and I found a thread online (today 5/6/2021) which asked to verify all of the serial numbers from the box to the playstation to the one on the order recipte.
I called bestbuy and they were able to assist me with getting the serial number of the unit I was sold. Come to find out the system I was handed and have has a different seiral number than what is on the order. Bestbuy customer service said that since it has been too long since my purchase that there is nothing they can do for me. I contacted playstation support and they said they cannot help me because the unit was not purchased through them but through a third party (best buy)
I called again and a PS support member notified me that the unit was reported lost/stolen. That is impossible because I picked it up from the best buy store in person and is still in my possesion nor did I report it lost or stolen.
I am at a standstill and do not know what to do because this simple mishap is causing my ps5 from connecting to the Playstation Network.
Please give me some alternatives or advice on what I can do next. My only option is to gather all my evidence and contact my bank letting them know that I recieved a stolen/lost product from bestbuy and hope they give me my money back.

if it didn't work the day you bought it why didn't you return it right away.

The playstation is fine. The system is working fine. There is nothing wrong with the product. I just cannot online so I thought the issue was with my internet connection or playstion plus issue. Plus its a ps5 you know how difficult it was to get one and thought maybe an update would fix the error code I kept getting.
