Assistance with exchange

My 70yr old father purchased a two pack of insigina refridgerator water filters from best buy approx 2 weeks ago. He ended up purchasing the wrong filters. He lives 45min from the nearest Best Buy so it is not easy for him to make the trip back over to exchange them. He asked me to take care of it for him. When I took the filters in, the store refused to exchange them as my father paid cash, is unable to locate the reciept and he does not use best buy rewards. I can fully understand if I was asking for his money back, however I AM NOT. I just want the correct water filters. The filters that he has have not been opened in any way and that has been verified. They could be placed right back on the shelf for sale and I just want the correct ones. I have never had such an issue with any retailer ever before and this has competely turned me off from ever shopping with Best Buy again.

Like pretty much any other retailer.... they need a receipt.

If you help your father contact them here with purchase date, location and approx time they may he able to look it up for you, however the return period is only 15 days.

Welcome to our forums, and thank you for sharing your experience with us.  As nckhammond has mentioned here, we’ll need some sort of proof of purchase in order to accept any returns, so while it sounds like your local Best Buy store was unable to locate your father’s receipt, I’ll be happy to look into this matter further, and offer any additional assistance I can.

 

In accordance with our Privacy Policy, we’ll be unable to provide a receipt to anyone other than the person who made the purchase, so if your father is still unable to locate his receipt, he’s welcome to create his own account here on our Support Forums, and send me a private message with the following information:

 

  • His first and last name
  • His phone number
  • His email address
  • What product(s) are/were purchased
  • The rough total amount spent on the receipt, including tax
  • Form of payment
  • Date of purchase
  • Store location
