I was just at my local best buy store to purchase 2 sets of wireless charging airpods.
Currently bestbuy.com show the price as 199.99 with a price match guarantee. Amazon is currently selling the same airpods (Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.) for 179.00.
The associate and manager I talked to said bestbuy wasn't able to pricematch on airpods, so I order them from amazon to save 40 dollars.
Can someone clarify Best Buys position on why a product would be advertised with price match when it is false?

Interesting! Can you provide the model number of the airpods (latest model) that you purchased?

It's likely the model number is not the same. One of the answered questions shows Costco having the same model number as we have, but the response was "this is not the same model number". If they're different models, they wouldn't qualify for a Price Match. Seeing another answer shows 3 other model numbers for the airpods that are being sold also, which would mean that it's not the same one as the one we're offering with a single make and model.
Hope this helps!

The only model number I can find is for the latest airpods with wirless charging case on bestbuy.com is MRXJ2AM/A.
Apple appears to have 3 model numbers this generation, but all for different products.
MRXJ2 airpods + wireless charging case.
MV7N2 airpods + charging case (wired).
MR8U2 wireless charging case.
The associate and manager didn't say anything about a model number difference. They said that airpods were restricted and not eligible for a price match.

Hi there, Chris19,
Welcome to the Best Buy Forums and thank you for taking the time to write in to us!
Taking advantage of our Price Match Guarantee is a great way to save on your tech investments! However, being told that an item doesn't qualify for a price match without further explanation is not acceptable. As autotech796 mentioned, it could have been due to a difference in model number, however it sounds like something else was communicated at your time of visit. I know that you have opted to purchase this item elsewhere, however, I'd like to investigate this further and make sure this gets documented and looked into. We appreciate any and all feedback as it gives us the opportunity to improve.
When you get the chance, can you please send us a private message with additional details about this? Please include your full name, phone number, email address, the name of the manager you spoke with, and the store location this occurred at. You can send a secure message by selecting the "Private Message" option below in my signature.
Best Regards,
