Recently I was gifted Air Pods but I would like to return them since I already have a pair. The person who gave it to me doesn't have a receipt and paid in cash in-store. He also didn't give the cashier his phone number, but he does know the date and location he bought from. Is there any possibility that I would be able to get a return or exchange or is there just too little information?

Apple products are all tracked by serial number and require a receipt. It is possible that they may be able to locate the receipt based on that serial number, but it's definitely not 100%. The only thing you can do is try, but ultimately there would be no way to do it without fining the receipt in the system.
