complaint

I bought a laptop in march for $200, end of june  it stopped working, brought it in, it was still under warranty , geek squad took it and came back with "liquid damage" and it would cost over $400 to fix it, so i told them no, they called me the next 3 days to see when I would pick it up, i told them either thursday or friday, i went in friday and they told me they wouldnt give it to me because i didnt make an appointment,  and wasnt told i needed an appointment, i just wanted my laptop i asked the employee to just get it and hand it over, i didnt need a appointment they were just going to try sell me another one, how do i get my laptop ? i just want to go in store grab it and leave, no hassles

The idea behind appointments is so that a large line doesn’t form preventing the process of you quickly picking up your laptop from going as planned. From working in stores for years, I can tell you that traffic at Geek Squad prior to going to the appointment system had wild swings in the number of clients visiting at any given time. Since going to this process, the visit is much smoother and time spent waiting in store lessened.

Thanks for reaching out to us here at the Best Buy Community forums about your recent repair. I apologize for my late reply. We’ve been exceptionally busy recently, and it is taking longer to get back to everyone than I’d like.

 

Thankfully, jdogg836 gave a very good answer. The purpose of having reservations to pick up computers is so that we can dedicate time to everyone that visits us, and to avoid long lines. I apologize that no one told you this when they let you know that your computer was available for pickup.
