Worst Customer service I Have Ever Received .... This Is a Formal Complaint

I chatted with best buy geek squad for help. the lady was nice to start but very unhelpful. i just got a new pc from best buy tried to install the  anti virus but my pc said i had to shut off s mode but advised me not to do this as it keeps my pc working proper. i needed help to know how to load the anti virus with out shutting it off, the lady said i had to pay for a session to get assistance. thru the conversation she left me sit for over 5 min , 7 min and 10 min . at a time. with out responding to me. this is the agent ......

    i repeatedly asked her if she could help me or not only to be told not unless i pay. i do hope someone see this contacts me and checks the message log. i admit the last thing i asked her was how to file a complaint on the lack of assistance i have received which is when she left me site unanswered for 10 min. this is just a guess but at 10 min she sent a message saying it has been a few min since she heard from me and asked if i wanted to continue. mind you she had not answered my last question as i was waiting for her response. i would guess 10 min silence is the guideline that they may terminate the chat. as i was responding that i still need help as she had earlier said she was first level help and second level was a pay level. when i said i cant afford pay level she stopped being of any assistance at all. as we all know when you type in chat you have the bouncing dots that tell you someone is typing as i was typing i still needed help she disconnected me despite seeing i was responding. this truly makes me rethink if i wish to continue buisness with best buy if this is the service i relieved, side not i bought 2 open box pc's b4 this one after being told they were new just been used for demo's both had problems and had to be returned one of which had a lady picture with no shirt all natural. i have done buisness there for many years buying a full kitchen appliances and washer drier many pcs and tablets and had some issues but this is the worse ive ever been treated, not just at best buy but ever !!!!

Some information:

S mode limits programs that can be installed to ones purchased from the app store. Most people shut this off. It is actually removed thru the app store. Just takes a few clicks.

Windows 11 comes with a perfectly good and free antivirus built in. It's definitely good enough if you leave it in S mode. Even if you don't, unless your planning on running a business thru it taking credit cards etc it's still probably good enough.

One other thing to be aware of is that many of the PC's that are in S mode by default are that way because they have very limited storage space. They are mainly designed for web browsing only. Check that there is even space on the drive to install an antivirus or anything else.

My Lenovo Idea Pad and HP laptop I bought on Black Friday, both had Windows S mode and 64gb storage. I use a SD/ Micro SD card with a platform called Portable Apps which offsets space on your hard drive by running popular apps from the cards instead of off the main drive itself. 

 

It's pretty easy to install and has all the popular web browsers and other applications you may find useful for your computer.

i have 256 solid state drive in this dell insperon 3511 has the 12th get i5 with 8 g memory. when you say ...... One other thing to be aware of is that many of the PC's that are in S mode by default are that way because they have very limited storage space. Check that there is even space on the drive to install an antivirus or anything else.does this pc fall in the cadagory if only good for web browsing. i was told this was a mid to upper level user pc.

For most users, that machine is more than capable of handling the workload.  There are users out there that require an upper level pc in the thousands of dollars range, everyone uses their computers a little bit differently so I don't like using terms like mid or upper level on a computer.  Of course, some people need raw processing power or a ton of internal storage space.  nckhammond is correct in stating that a lot of machines in S mode tend to lack the internal space needed to install a bunch of apps.  If you're wanting to install apps from outside of the app store, you should turn off S mode and continue.  Just be aware of the potential space and security limitations.  S mode is for extreme casual users that benefit from a locked down machine with only access to the app store.  Microsoft recognizes this isn't for everyone and provides the ability to shut it off.  With 256gb of storage, I think you're going to be ok unless you have already filled the machine with tons of tiles.
