My own TV gets plenty of use in my own household so I can understand the inconvenience of having an inconsistent picture. From what you described, it sounds like it could be a multitude of components inside the TV that could be causing the issue. It would be difficult to diagnose the problem without having one of our Geek Squad Agents asses the TV in person.
