I have a samsung tv with a extended warrenty till end of March. In November of 2018 the Tv quit. I took it off wall mount and  wraped it in the plastic and put it in it original box in my utility shed. My car has been messed up so I had no way to Bring it in. My daughter called yesterday 2/6/19 and was coming to your store in Hattiesburg Ms to buy a laptop and a tv.

When she took it in they hook it up and said that they found a bug in it and that is what made it quit.  There was a power surge in my house that day it quit it made my ref quit to . I have bought 2 tv;s several laptop and 2 tablets and 2 cameras from this store. She called me from there she was upset and went home with buying anything. I will wait for a reply before going futher with this.

Hello, jimmudowns50,

Welcome to the Best Buy Community forums. I’m sorry to hear that your television isn’t working.

Under the Terms & Conditions of our Geek Squad Protection plans, a product that is suffering from an insect infestation will not be covered, and we will not be able to perform a repair. Even if the initial damage was caused by a surge, we cannot repair a device that has insects in it.

I’d be happy to see if I can review this for you and confirm what the folks at the sore saw, and see if we have any options. If there are truly insects in the television, however, we will not be able to perform that repair.

Please send me a private message, by using the link in my signature below this post. I’ll need your name, email address, phone number, and the Geek Squad Protection Plan number, if you have it.

I’ll be out of the office for the next couple days, but I’ll get back to you on Sunday if I can’t by the end of today.
