As a big fan of the Sony mirrorless line, I'm disappointed to hear that you are struggling to find out of warranty service for your A5000. It is not uncommon for manufacturers to discontinue repairs in-house and allow 3rd party authorized repair facilities to take over, especially when the particular model in question has been discontinued for a year. It seems that Sony's own service recommendation is identical with Best Buy's recommendation, Precision Camera, as they are the industry leader in repairing cameras and camcorders.
Geek Squad / Best Buy has means in place to support any products that are covered under our Geek Squad Protection Plans, and barring that coverage we are not always able to repair fully out of warranty items.
