NS-40D510N Insignia 40" TV

After owning this product for about 18 months, we connected headphones for the first time.. only to find that the headphone jack is defective. There is terribly distorted sound out of one channel only. We have tried sveral pairs of headphones with the same result. What is the warramty period on this item, and if out of warranty, will GeekSquad assist us?

Thanks for joining us at the Best Buy Community forums. I always use headphones when watching TV or movies, so I understand how disappointing this must be for you.

I checked into that television, and it comes with a one-tear manufacturer’s warranty. If it was purchased 18 months ago, it would no longer be covered.


That doesn’t mean that there’s nothing we can do to help, however. It could be some setting that is causing the television to not output sound correctly. I’d encourage you to make a reservation to bring the television in to us. Our Geek Squad Agents can take a look at the TV and see if they can determine what is causing the sound issue.


If they aren’t able to get it working through software, they should be able to send it out to the service center for an estimate on a repair. There would be a fee associated with sending it out, but the in-store consultation will be free.
