I have the same issue after I updated my 3 Toshiba 43” Fire TVs I have had for less than a year. They would not recognize the remote. After resetting the two I purchased directly from Amazon, they are now working. The Best Buy purchased one is still not recognizing the remote. I have changed the batteries 10 times, tried the plugging directly into my wifi box and utilizing a phone app remote, holding down the 3 buttons, and unplugging and replugging in the TV. I finally called the Toshiba help line. When I said no to purchasing a warranty, the guy hung up. It appears as if Best Buy is running a Warranty scam. With all the customers I see online with the exact same issue, I cannot believe they have not done a recall. I am going to post on my Facebook and have my thousands of friends do the same, to NOT buy any TV from Best Buy!

Why punish Best Buy. You should tell them not to but a toshiba fire TV. After all, it is toshiba who has not fixedd this issue.

Best Buy continues to sell this exact TV and have the same issue over and over. The only way the will resolve the issue is if you buy their $200 warranty! This has scam written all over it! Especially since every Toshiba I have purchased directly from Amazon has worked for years!

No! Best Buy is ripping people off with the out of box TV’s. They have placed software on the TV that they can only bypass. During the reset it gives you the choice to use in-store. That is not on any of my other Toshibas. I am handicapped! I made an appointment and took it in, only to be told someone had to come to my home to fix it. Why would customers pay more than the cost of a new TV to have a TV fixed? That is ridiculous!

Thanks for joining our community here on the Best Buy Forums. I have been watching my TV more that I care to admit recently, so I can understand wanting to have yours up and running ASAP. 

 

Have you been able to schedule a date and time for an Agent to come out to your home to look at the TV with you? If not, I am happy to see what may be possible.

Why would I do that when I was told to bring it in? I work every day! Why would I pay someone after I took it in and told the Geek Squad individual that i had 4 other Toshibas purchased directly from Amazon without this issue after updating. In reading responses of all the people with the same issue, this is obviously a pattern. A boycott os Best Buy may lead to changing the selling of these defective products to increase Geek Squad business.

Depending on the size of the TV, it is possible that an in-home visit may be required as our stores are not equipped to accept all TV sizes for service.

Looks like my local bestbuy is open 7 days a week for a totally of 83 hours a week. Your not going to convince anyone that you work more then 83 hours a week so you can't bring somthing back to the store...
