Welcome to our community. There is very little as frustrating as the discovery that a a product you purchased--Geek Squad Protection in this case--may not provide coverage as expected. I was unhappy to hear of your situation; service issues alone are inconvenient enough without adding an unanticipated wrinkle.
With apologies, Best Buy in the U.S. will not be able to offer covered service for your purchase made in Canada. If your plan Terms & Conditions include a clause for international coverage, you may be able to pursue service in the U.S, but likely with some restrictions.
For further assistance with this issue, I would recommend that you contact Best Buy Canada.
