Product out of warranty

Bestbuy sold me a laptop  (open Box)  SKU#5430578 that is out of warranty and clearly stated that has 1 years warranty for labor + 1 year warranty for parts. The issue started when I tried to see the battery performance where I noticed that the battery drained so dramaically in less than 2 hours.

I booked an appointement with Geeksquad at  Rockway NJ  store on February 6th when they told me that this computer is out of warranty. The geeksquad wanted to take my computer and issue a refund without asking me so I denied and I said how come you sold me an expensive laptop for $1600 without letting the customer knows about the expiration of the product.

Shame on you!

Geek squad covers the warranty on open box laptops if the manufacturer will not. It is at Thier disgression to repair or refund you. They did nothing wrong.

BestBuy.com should be clear with that information when they list any product on their website which is not the case. Im not attacking your geeksquad team, out of warranty info should be stated before posting it.

Welcome to our forums, and thank you for sharing your experience with us.  It sounds like there may be some confusion regarding the warranty status of the open-box laptop you purchased with us, but I’m optimistic we’ll be able to clarify your product’s warranty.

 

As nckhammond has mentioned, your open-box laptop should come with a warranty, and you’ll be able to find more information regarding our open-box and refurbished items here.  However, how that warranty is fulfilled can vary, depending on the findings of our Geek Squad agents.  If your local Geek Squad determined the issue you’re having is not something they can repair, they may offer a replacement or refund, which is what it sounds like they offered during your most recent visit.  While I’ll be unable to offer an alternate resolution, if you are still interested in resolving the issues you’ve been having with your laptop, I recommend returning to your local Best Buy store, to explore what options may be available to you.
