I know that during the spring and summer when storms are most prevalent and powerful that even sometimes the best of surge protectors are not match against mother nature. I'm so sorry to hear that your new washing machine was affected by a power surge that had happened. I would be wanting to get this taken care of, and would be just as shocked as you are to learn this about my protection plan.
I took a look at the Terms & Conditions of our Geek Squad Protection, and would like to highlight the section that shows that we will cover power surges even if the manufacturer does not. That part is below:
...Coverage for hardware failure described in Section 5.1 will begin when the manufacturer’s warranty expires except that if the manufacturer’s warranty does not cover one of the listed Coverage items in Section 5.1, this Plan will provide coverage on the Plan start date.
