Not honoring what they say

Why is it that best buy is not honoring what they say. It's like employees are saying stuff to get sales I guess. I got a Samsung microwave from best buy in pensacola in 2019. It was a display model and I asked if there was a warranty that I could get the guy said yes I asked him that if I bought this display model and got the warranty if it would get me a new one or would I get back the price I will be paying for the display which was around $180. He said no you would get a new one which the price is a round $360 to $400 or so. So I said ok I'll buy it why not if something goes wrong I can get a new one or one like it. 2021 now and I had bought the 5 year warranty not over till 2024. Buttons started messing up we already have issues with the dishwasher as well they. They send out a tech and say that the dishwasher needs. Part they don't make and the microwave has a bad door the panel on it is bad they both need to be replaced. My wife calls them still on the phone with them now been on the phone for hours. Going to replace the dishwasher we paid full price for but the microwave the will give us the $180 something to a new one. Wait what the one is as promised I would get the $360 ish new one if this one went bad now I'm getting told I'll only get $180 something lie one found out. Lie 2 is that we can't replace it with a new one cause we don't ha e that microwave anymore. I go online at best buy and find that exact microwave $360 something dollars on display at my best buy like before. So Ive already spent over 3,300 this year with them last year spent almost $7,500 and this is how I'm treated. Was told I have to call the store and see if they will do anything about it which I bet I'll get the run around again. If I can't resolve this I'll shop other places form now on.

Re: Not honoring what they say

Welcome, automakanik,

Thank you for taking the time to stop by our community forums to let us know about your experience with your appliances and the Geek Squad Protection plan. Having had appliances stop working in the past, I know it has a major impact every say so I can understand wanting to get this repair or replacement completed as quickly as possible. I'd be glad to provide some more information about this process to help answer your questions.

Generally, the Geek Squad will fulfill your Geek Squad Protection plan by replacing your Covered Product with a new product or issuing you a store credit or gift card for its current market value not to exceed the original purchase price of your Covered Product including taxes. Based on your message it sounds like this amount would be around $180 as it was what you original paid.

To my knowledge we do not usually sell items that are on display but it's possible that your local store may be able to help you explore some alternative solutions. Have you been able to get in touch with them to see what may be possible? If not, I would be glad to reach out to them on your behalf to help explore this for you.

Re: Not honoring what they say

Yes you do sell display models they do it all the time and Oh no I got screwed they only want to give me $202 for the old one and pay more so I won't be buying items at best buy anymore. Just bought a new fridge from best buy over $2000 wish I would have gone some place else. Not the first time best buy has screwed me but it will be the last. They told me the item is discontinued and that they can not do anything about giving me a new one. That they can only give me the 202 when. I was told when I bought it that it could be replaced for a new one if I got the warranty the thing is that is as going to buy it brand new but was told that they had a display for cheaper and could be gotten with a warranty as well so I got the cheaper option since it would be replaced with a new one if needed. But I guess getting sales is more important than being truthful.

Re: Not honoring what they say

Feel free to contact the store as well. They are not accepting phone calls and I live an hour away. Why would I drive an hour away to get the same crap told to me. All we can talk to is best buy call people and they won't honor anything why would the store. As I said Ill just keep the damaged one having to press the 30 second button a million times cause none of the numbers work on the panel over getting crap money back to spend on a new one at best buy cause I will only get store credit. Why would I want to give more money to a store that is messing around with me.
