I recently had my laptop serviced because it was having trouble re-booting. I brought it to the store, FULLY CHARGED. The re-booting issue was solved, but now my laptop will not hold a charge. I took it back to the store for an explenation. Long story short, they said it wasnt because of anything Best Buy did. They said there was no way they could have damaged the hardware because they didnt not open the inside of the laptop. Thing is, THEY DID. I asked them to clean my fans when I had the laptop serviced.

It’s an HP pavillion 17. I can only use laptop when plugged in. Once it’s unplugged, it holds charge for around 5 minutes then shuts down: even though it’s supposedly “fully charged”. Battery diagnostic shows battery is fine. Didnt have this issue before being serviced. It’s possible fans could have been cleaned the way you stated, but I have reason to believe it was opened because there are tiny cracks around the perimeter, including the power connector, which no longer holds the cord securely.

Hello, jays4life,
Welcome to our community forums and thank you for taking the time to let us know about your laptop repair. I can imagine how hard it would be to use your laptop with the battery running out so quickly. I'd be glad to help you look into options on how to get assistance moving forward.
Have you contacted your local Geek Squad to let them know about this new battery issue? If not, I would be glad to follow up with them on your behalf. When was this repair completed? Which store location did you visit?
I will also need a few more details so I can reach out to this store. Can you please send me a private message that includes your:
