Laptop Hinge and frame needs to be repaired

Hi I have a hp laptop. It's about 4 or 5 years old and has been fixed by geek sqaud before. The hinge on the right side broke a few years ago when I accidently had dropped it. The same one is broke again and I havent dropped it at all. The frame is messed up as well. A piece of the aluminium in the frame broke off when I had tried to open it. The laptop itself works absolutely fine I just can't shut it or slide it in my backpack. I was wondering what the cost would be to get it repaired again. I don't really want another laptop considering this one was over $800. We had a warranty and it ran out about 3 years ago so I wanted to know the cost of getting it repaired and how long it would take. I have to have my laptop for school. I do online schooling and must have it daily. If someone could get back to me I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time to put in to read this.

Re: Laptop Hinge and frame needs to be repaired

You would have to make a geek squad appoint and pay the fee to have it shipped off then they would call you with a price to be approved, more then likely it's time for a new laptop thou, would need hinge and ether new lower or upper case depending on how the hinge mounts and possible the lid. 3-400$ easy

Re: Laptop Hinge and frame needs to be repaired

Good morning, Wolverinie27,

Welcome to our forums!  Like you, my laptop was essential for me to complete my work at school.  I couldn’t imagine how inconvenient it would be to go without it, so I completely understand why you’d want to get this repaired as soon as possible.

Without being able to see your laptop, and determine how much damage was caused after it was dropped, it’s tough for us to provide you an accurate repair estimate through our Support Forums.  With that said, does offer a chart with typical part costs here, and that should help inform you of some of the charges you may incur when repairing your laptop.

If you’re interested in bringing your laptop to the Geek Squad at your local Best Buy store, you can schedule an appointment here, or give our Geek Squad a call at 1-800-433-5778, and they’ll be happy to get an appointment scheduled for you.

Hope this helps,
