Purchased the top-of-the line $2000 KitchenAid oven range back in Oct 2018. Waht a dissapointment it has been - already replaced oven fan, almost all burners, glass top. But recent issue we had with that was a really dangerous one.
THe top oven door locked by itself and did not open with the almost-ready food inside on 400 degrees setting. Also, the temperature pad was irresponsive and oven did not turned off. I called the Geek Squad immediately and emphasised that it is an emergency and perhaps fire hazard. However, the rep responded that he cannot send nobody at this moment and the earliest service appointment can be made only in about a week.
Basiaclly, we were on our own with the locked oven door and dark smoke starting coming out of the oven. Obviously we did what we suppose to do and force-opened the door.
The tech from RR Apliance Repair Inc came a few days later, looked at the oven, did not do anything and left without saying a word. Then we received email advised that the service case has been closed with on further information.
After making the calls to the RR Repair, AIG insurance, Geek Squad and BB cust service, we finally got notified that the service request was closed and our claim denied because of the physical damage to the door.
Here the chain of events - the door locked, I called for emergency visit, the visit was denied, I had to do something to open the door to prevent a possible fire. The physical damage to the door comes last, after I called to G/S for help and help was denied. What else should I do? Let the house burn?
This is ourageous and unfair. That oven is the worst purchase we've made ever and incidently one of the highest priced appliances we ever bought. And it is a piece of a junk.
Really hope someone from the Corporate will read that post and will use the common sense and realize that I did not damage the door because I was bored and than called the Squad to repair it. I called the Squad first and advised that it is an emergency and I need some help ASAP, and only after we were left alone with our issue I had no other choice as to apply the force to open the oven door.
That oven should be fixed under the warranty, that we've padi for, or replaced. The KitchenAid should step-in as well and stand behind their horrible grossly overpriced product.
